We are currently improving our online booking system.

Associated companies, Hawkair Aviation & Central Mountain Air wish to announce they will be combining Passenger Reservations systems effective January 5th, 2016. The new single platform, Central Mountain Air, will combine both travel networks to allow thru passenger and baggage travel, interline connections, and redemption of AirMiles.

While we will try to make this transition as smooth as possible we do expect some issues along the way. If you require assistance, please contact our Reservations Department at 1-888-865-8585. Central Mountain Air and Hawkair appreciate your patience during this transition. Thank you!

Canola-field

Dawson Creek is Blooming!

Hawkair Airline guests arriving in Dawson Creek often ask us, “What are the beautiful, bright yellow fields surrounding Dawson Creek?”.

The spectacular yellow flowers are the result of blooming canola which is an important oilseed crop and a locally grown agricultural commodity. The yellow reaches the peak of brilliance near the end of July when the plant begins to mature for harvest. The combination of the expansive Peace Country blue skies and the bright yellow of the Canola is breathtaking and a perfect example of Mother Natures’ colour wheel in action.

When the yellow canola flower begins to fade, local residents know that the Dawson Creek Exhibition and Stampede is right around the corner. The annual Fall Fair is known as the “Greatest Show in the Peace”, and is celebrating its 93rd year of operation August 5th through 9th.

The annual event features World Professional Chuck Wagon racing, Wrangler Canadian Pro Tour Rodeo, an Agricultural Fair and more! The covered grandstands give spectators a perfect opportunity to experience the thrilling rodeo action culminating in the famous “Dash for Cash” World Professional Chuck Wagon Association race final.

Throughout the community, guests will notice that local business embrace the Stampede experience by decorating their storefronts and donning western wear in the week leading up the event. You can’t miss the cowboy hats and blue jeans that suddenly make their appearance on many otherwise suit wearing business persons!

This is the time when we celebrate our rural community that contributes so much to the fabric of the South Peace Region. Draft horses, 4H exhibits, multiple cattle shows and Heavy Horse Pulls draw an audience from hundreds of miles away and the fair grounds are buzzing with activity.

Maybe we will see you in Dawson Creek this August for the Exhibition and Stampede! Western wear is not required, but it sure is fun to give it a try! Rodeo not your thing? Walk through the agricultural exhibits featuring local produce, baking and crafts. Visit with the young men and women from 4-H who are proudly showcasing their hard work and achievement. Take your children through the midway and enjoy their contagious laughter as they test their nerves on the midway rides! There is something for everyone at the Fair.
